Teachers Training Scholarship

The Embassy of Japan in the Independent State of Samoa calls for applications by Samoan nationals who wish to conduct research on school education under the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Government of Japan) Scholarship Program. This is a non-degree training course, however, a certificate will be provided in completion of required course at the university in Japan. This program is not designed for those who wish to enter Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctor’s degree courses.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. Age: Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1989.
  2. Qualifications: Applicants must be graduates of universities or teacher training schools and have worked as teachers at primary/secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools (excluding universities) in their home countries for five years in total as of October 1, 2024. In-service university faculty members are not eligible.

Required Documents

  1. Application Form.
  2. Certified grade tanscript for each academic year from the last university / teacher training school attended.
  3. Letter of recommendation from the immediate surpervisor at work.
  4. The diploma from the last university / teacher training school attended.
* Medical Certificate and other documents mentioned inside the Guidelines are not required at this stage.
