The Government of Japan in collaboration with the Samoa Water Authority (SWA), celebrated a significant milestone with an official signing ceremony marking the approval of funding under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP).
H.E. Mr. SENTA Keisuke, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa signed over the grant of up to USD201,288 (approximately SAT543,000) to the Managing Director, Fuimaono Faatoialemanu Dominic Schwalger.
The grant will facilitate the procurement of five vehicles which is crucial for SWA's operations throughout Samoa. This initiative is part of a broader effort aimed at enhancing infrastructure managed by SWA, with a focus on improving efficiency, reliability and overall performance across urban, rural and Savai’i divisions.
The Signing Ceremony not only formalizes the approved grant but also symbolises a collaborative effort between Japan and SWA to address critical water management challenges and improve the lives of people of Samoa.
The Government of Japan continues to support and assist small-scale projects directly benefitting at the grass-roots level as well as contributing to the socio-economic development of the Independent State of Samoa through its GGP.
