Under Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), a grant of up to USD 170,975 (approximately WST 454,000) was provided, following the agreement in January 2023, for the construction of a two-story concrete facility. This facility includes a multi-purpose space, a counseling room, a doctor's office, and sleeping quarters.
With the establishment of this facility, it is expected that residents will now be able to receive residential care, vocational training, and rehabilitation in a safe and appropriate environment, contributing to social stability through support for vulnerable individuals.
This initiative exemplifies Japan's commitment to contributing to human security and socioeconomic development in Samoa and highlights the positive outcomes of this cooperation. Japan will continue to provide grassroots-level support to Samoa's economic and social sectors through the GGP.
