From April 8 to 10, 2025, a series of significant events were held in Samoa under the Climate Action Pathways for Island Transport (CAP-IT) project, aimed at decarbonizing the nation's transport sector.​
 
April 8: Launch of Transport Sector Decarbonization Strategy and Sustainable Land Use and Mobility Plan
At Don Bosco Technical College in Alafua, Samoa officially unveiled its strategic framework for transitioning to a carbon-free transport sector. This initiative underscores the nation's commitment to long-term sustainable transportation solutions.

April 9: Introduction of EV Mechanics Professional Continuing Training Curriculum
The CAP-IT project introduced an Electric Vehicle (EV) mechanics curriculum, formally recognized by the Samoa Qualifications Authority (SQA). This curriculum is set to be implemented at the National University of Samoa (NUS), Don Bosco Technical College, and Laumua no Punaoa School, establishing a robust foundation for developing skilled professionals in EV technology.​
 
April 10: Handover Ceremony of Oxygen Tank Transport EV Truck
At the Ministry of Health in Moto’otua, a specialized Hyundai Mighty Electric truck, designed for transporting medical oxygen tanks, was officially handed over. This vehicle will facilitate the distribution of oxygen from production facilities to hospitals across the island. Ambassador Suzuki participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, reaffirming Japan's support for Samoa's sustainable development initiatives.​
 
These events highlight the collaborative efforts in policy development, education, and infrastructure to advance the decarbonization of Samoa's transport sector. The integrated approach of institutional support, capacity building, and practical implementation marks a significant step toward a sustainable future.​
