How to Apply

The Visa Section of the Embassy of Japan in Samoa takes care of the issuance of visas to foreign nationals who wish to enter Japan. Whether you need to obtain a visa to enter Japan differs according to the purpose of visit, length of your stay, your nationality, etc. So please read the following instructions carefully to determine if you need one. Under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act of Japan, it is stipulated that any foreigner wishing to enter Japan must possess a valid passport and visa obtained from an overseas establishment of Japan. Travellers from certain countries may be eligible to visit Japan without a visa under visa exemption arrangements.

Eligibility
Applicants must hold a Samoan passport or a valid long-term Samoan visa, e.g. resident, work, student etc. Applications from those in Samoa on a short-term visitor visa will not be accepted.*
*Exceptions may apply for those applicants holding a Certificate of Eligibility.
